The brewery is situated in a wine and beer region at the same time in South Moravia with brewing tradition dating back to 1522. After a pause, brewing was resumed at the same premises in 2013. The KANEC (meaning Wild Boar) range of beers has already attracted many beer aficionados for their unique balance between hops and malt. The name refers to a nearby wildlife reserve hosting many wild boars. Water is sourced from this very unique area, traditionally from artesian wells.
Another thing to take note of is that malt is sourced from a local independent Záhlinice malthouse adhering to floor malting. Grains are spread on the floor and turned every eight hours by the Maltster. This adds to the unmistakably pleasant buiscuit taste of these beers crafted by the local Brewmaster Dušan Táborský, who is a recognised personality on the Czech Brewing scene.
These traditionally made Real Bohemian Lagers showcase a very pleasant malty and slightly spicy character that definitely stands out from the competition. This is best demonstrated by Kanec premium 12 lager with an unrivalled malty and spicy aroma. On the other hand, the unusual new Kanec 10 hoppy light lager showcases as much as 33 IBU!. The range is complemented by their signature product – the unique Kanec 12 Semi-dark Vienna lager.
A session lager with a pronounced bitterness and beautiful dark golden colour. Each batch is hopped four times with Czech hops varieties exclusively. Hopping quantities and times are carefully evaluated by Dušan, the Materbrewer, so that beer keeps a delightful aroma and hoppiness remain pleasant.
