Since 1874, in the lovely surroundings of Jeseníky, the Holba brewery has been producing pure mountain beer, well known at home and…

this is not just beer.

This is JAROSOVSKY

jarosov BREWERY

About the brewery

Jarošov was established in 1688 as a burgher brewery and it soon became a major source of income for the Uherské Hradiště town. However, it really started to thrive under the ownership of the Braun family who bought it in 1869. The Brauns invested considerably and unlike other burgher breweries Jarosov could fiercely compete with modern breweries built during the industrial revolution. The whole operation included the brewery, malthouse, distillery and yeast production.

Jarošov became synonymous with high quality bottom fermented beer and robust exportations followed suit. During the first world war, Jarošov made it to the top 6 biggest breweries in Moravia.

However the second world war and the dark communist era were less favourable to the brewery. The Braun family had to escape the country and the brewery ways eventually nationalized. Even worse, in 1997 it was closed down spreading panic among beer drinkers. Indeed the Jarošov brand was so popular with locals that the pop music band ARGEMA released a song called “Jarošov Brewery” that made it to the Czech Republic hitparade!

Luckily the brewery was solemnly reopened in 2017 by a local entrepreneur who already own the Znojmo brewery. And the great news is it instantly became one of the best Real Bohemian Lager specialist in Moravia, specializing in both single hop and double hop traditionally made lagers.

The renewed Jarošov brewery is instantly recognizable by its design by Little Greta combining avant-garde artworks and traditional South Moravian (Slovácko region) motives.

JURA 11°

Jarošovský Jura is a typical example of a Real Bohemian lager from the „Moravian Slovakia“ region, located in south east Czech Republic, near the Slovakian border. It is brewed traditionally from local ingredients (malt is sourced from local Kroměříž Malthouse), employing decoction, open fermentation and long maturation in cellars at temperatures just below 1°C. Quite uniquely, this is a single hopped beer, employing only the famous Medium Early red Saaz hops. This together with triple hopping grants the beer a delicate bitterness that disappears from the palate at the right time. This is coupled with a pleasant full malt body.

JAROSOVKY
LEZAK 12°

Our Jarošov 12 premium lager is effectively a demonstrator of our approach to a Real Bohemian lager. We brew it from local water and are very proud of the malt combo with light malt from Kroměříž and caramel floor malt from Zaglin – both local malthouses. It enjoys traditional brewing in the same way as the 11 but this beer is hopped four times with the last one being dry hopping in the cellar. A strong malt body is being balanced by initial higher bitterness that gently melts into a superb delicate bitterness.

JAROSOVKA
DESITKA 10°

We consider this beer a reference as per light Real Bohemian lagers (gravity 10). This beer enjoys proper decoction with double mashing and double fermentation (it matures in cellars at temperatures close to 1°C). We use three different malts – local Kroměříž pilsener malt and local Zaglin caramel and Munich malts. Expect a perfect balance between hops and malt with medium highly pleasant bitterness.
