Konrad brewery

In 1872, citizens of the Czech-German city of Reichenberg (in Czech Liberec) could read the following advertisement in local newspapers: “The Reichenberg Maffersdorf brewery and malthouse is to issue new shares”. Indeed, the new brewery was opened on 2 January 1874 and it was a typical example of a modern 19th-century industrial revolution brewery.

The excellent award-winning Konrad lagers (European beer star and World beer awards winner) are made via traditional Bohemian brewing with no shortcuts – Decoction brewing, double fermentation with long lagering is the rule here and that is not to change.

Moreover, Konrad still produces its own Pilsener malt at the brewery which is quite unique in today’s beer world.
