Czech Beer Alliance brings you the Best Weiss in the world. No kidding!

“Back in 2013, Primator Weizen won the title of World´s Best Weiss beer at London´s World Beer Awards (WBA) to the surprise of everybody and that’s how the world had discovered Primator“, says Petr Kaluza, Primator´s  Managing Director and then Masterbrewer. This beer became exported worldwide and Petr was then invited as judge at the WBA so he now makes it regularly to London for judging.

The uniqueness of the Primator´s Weizen was reaffirmed in 2020 when it won the European Beer Star in Nürnberg and more recently with two more titles from London (2022 and 2023).

So what exactly makes it unique? Well of course, we love this beer here at the CBA which is why we decided to include it in our exclusively imported portfolio but we would rather give the floor to sommeliers from London to comment.

Jamile Percival says: “This is not a genuine and well rounded Weisse beer, it is however a great impersonation of one. The Co2 balance with the body of the liquid is fantastic and the ester flavours produced are one dimensional towards ripe banana. Therefore, this beer will satisfy the large mass audience looking for a delicious and refreshing weisse beer.”

So whilst some beer connoisseurs experienced in wheat beers might see it as incomplete, in reality this is a major unique selling point of this beer. Czechs have simply adapted this style to their beloved lager in making it supremely drinkable and thus making this style more accessible to more drinkers. And as such this should be a major appeal for British publicans.
